James Hoffman (Jimseven to his coffee mates) is a world authority on coffee.

For this project, a compendium of his writing from 2004-2015, James was looking for a high-end finish in a cloth bound edition, and approached Whitefox who in turn, approached us. We looked at the competition, and decided to do something completely new and with a very light touch.

The design uses an illustration that echoes ripples in liquid from an epicentre. It suggests a journey and  the lines are broken also suggesting a less-than-perfect path. The simple, black and white design is elegant but also references black and white coffee. Not a brown bean in sight…
