Evan Davis is know for his journalism, as a Radio 4 Presenter, overseer of Dragons’ Den and most recently as the new anchor for Newsnight on the BBC.

Little, Brown publish his books and were kind enough to ask us to package his latest which accompanied a BBC TV series entitled Made in Britain. The series, and the book, uncover a confidence in British manufacturing and the British brand, and is a rallying call to be proud of our strength during a rocky period for the economy. It looks at everything from BAE systems’ new pilotless plane to the Brompton Bicycle.

After roughs experimenting with cogs and price labels, shown here, we asked to approach eminent illustrator Anthony Burrill to use his famous ‘Sorry, We’re Open’ sign. It’s unapologetic spoof on the traditional ‘Sorry, We’re Closed’ shop sign was perfect for this book’s simple message. It was only left for us to style some simple type for it to hang from.

For the paperback edition it was decided to use the author’s celebrity as the lead and compliment it with strong, rugged type echoing trade, packaging and commerce.

We will soon be able to share Evan Davis new book. Watch this space.
